Running Club

Mission

The Army ROTC Running club welcomes runners of all ability levels to build on self-improvement, camaraderie, and to run alongside fellow cadets. With weekly running practices and race opportunities, running club provides an environment that members can work on personal running goals while also having fun and socializing with fellow cadets. Our goal for each semester is to not necessarily be the fastest but for each cadet to improve individually.

What We Do

By participating in practices and races throughout the year, Army ROTC Running club promotes varied training with the goal of improving the overall fitness of cadets. We plan to compete in the Army 10 Miler in the fall where cadets who participate can earn club credit. For the fall, the requirement for credit is to run at least one 5k race, in which there are many opportunities within the Penn State community and surrounding areas. In the spring semester, we typically will train longer distances in order to prepare members to race a half marathon of choice. By having fun, we hope to make running an activity that is more accessible and enjoyable to our cadets.

Training

Members only need to attend one practice per week. Practices are Monday 1800-1900 and Friday 1600-1700
