Can I go into the Army Reserve or National Guard after graduation instead of the regular Army?
Yes. Selected Cadets may choose to serve part-time in the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard while pursuing a civilian career.
Depending on the academic year you are in you must sign up for the class that is first directly applicable to you (see list of classes here). For example Army 101 is for freshman in the fall, Army 102 is for freshman in the spring, Army 203 is for sophomores in the fall and Army 204 is for sophomores in the spring. You will also schedule a lab that takes place every Thursday. Lastly, you will also be required to take a kines 096 class that is known as PT (physically training) in the morning every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you are a SOPHOMORE who just started joining in the fall, it is recommended you take the Army 101 class as well to catch up with courses you missed. Then next semester you will take both Army 102 and Army 204. If as a sophomore you choose not to take all 4 courses, and wish to continue Army ROTC, then to complete the requirements of the courses you will be sent to cadet basic camp over the following summer. If you are joining as a Sophomore in the Spring it is recommended you take Army 102 and 204. Although, you will be still sent to basic camp due to Army 101 and 102 being only offered in the fall.
